There are only several things that men really love, and tinkering with random gadgets is one of them. Therefore, it isn’t really surprising that most men love poring over RC toys to no end. Men enjoy these toys because they can experiment with several mechanical engineering concepts related to scaled down replicas of things and see how they end up working efficiently in the end.

Men tend to be passionate about different kinds of engines, so anything with gears and that moves already fascinates them. Of course, RC toys are included in this passion because they have various engines that let them move on roads, float on water and fly on air – fast. Several toys even have combustion engines, which work just like real car engines, while other toys come with electric motors and mechanical parts that were directly inspired by actual car components.

Many RC toys exist out there that men truly love. However, the two kinds that get the most attention would be the RC toy off-road vehicles and airplanes, both of which incidentally play big roles in titillating the fancy and imagination of men. When men were children, most of them dreamed of becoming pilots while others wanted to go on road adventures. As they grew up, they might have forgotten about these fancies, but they are still part of the male subconsciousness. So, the minute they see anything even vaguely familiar to those fantasies, their thoughts wake up and they get the desire to own an RC toy. This is why most men love flying toys and high-speed vehicles that can run on unpaved roads.

One other reason why they tend to love RC toys lies within the different kind of “high” that they get while playing with one. These toys give men fun and enjoyment that several women may find amusing, though on another level. Also keep in mind that every adult has a childish side that enjoys toys that they see. Without a doubt, this has something to do with men’s fascination with remote controlled toys, as well, and why they have become a favorite hobby to many. In fact, even women long to try these toys out in order to see what men love about them. Because of that, both genders now play with these fun and amusing toys the world over. If you own these toys yourself, you will definitely agree that they are incredibly enjoyable – without a doubt.

I realize I must have been living under a rock for the past few years since I’ve never owned an Apple product. I’ve been using PCs since I was a kid in the early 90s and Android on my smartphone for three years (Blackberry before that). So it was not an easy decision for me to take the plunge on the New iPad. Below are my findings thus far, some of which I knew before buying and some that I’ve learned since. I won’t spend time reviewing technical details or comparisons to the iPad 2. There are dozens of professional reviews out there that have done as much. Instead, this is my perspective in using the iPad after so many years with non iOS products.

Positives:
+ Beautiful design, form, fit, etc. Always seems to be the case for Apple products (sometimes to the point of diminished functionality as noted below)
+ Best screen. I’ve always worked with large, high resolution monitors (current is 1440 27″). This screen is gorgeous as everyone has called out.
+ Best battery life at 10 or so hours; I’ve only had it 6 days but nothing leads me to believe 10 hours is overstated
+ Best selection of tablet-specific apps. There’s really no comparison here and it will likely take years for Android and eventually Win 8 to catch up
+ Tons of 3rd party products such as cases in every possible style
+ Easy to use content via iTunes
+ Compared to laptop, instant on and long battery life are ideal for videos and entertainment on the go, quick surfing, etc. Touch of course is very intuitive (love to watch my five year old use it on her own)

Negatives:
- Big Brother In Charge: Locked factory home screen, really? I guess I’ve been spoiled with all the freedoms that Android includes (no iron curtain there). But if I want to get rid of an Apple factory icon, I can’t. Instead, only secondary screens are up to me. In general, there is very limited ability to tweak settings. Way too controlling for a $700 device in my opinion.
- No guided turn by turn navigation and GPS struggles to get location where my Android phone picks it up instantly; standard on even $50 Android phones
- Having used the Android Market (now Play) for years, I am accustomed to trying out ad-supported apps for free, and then buying ad-free versions of the ones I find the most useful. Now I’m still early into iOS, but I am finding a lot more paid only apps and far fewer ad-supported free apps. I’ll keep looking but this is my initial impression.
- No SD and overpriced memory upgrade only available at time of purchase
- No USB to connect camera and other accessories to, and Apple OEM only camera kit for a high price for what it is.
- Occasional stutter or delayed response. Generally very smooth as reviewers have said, but both my wife and I have seen this happen once or twice an hour.

I’ll do a follow-up in a couple weeks when I’ve had more time with it. I still wouldn’t consider an iPhone over Android. But for tablets, Apple is the game in town right now both for hardware and ecosystem. If Android/Win 8 tablets approached the hardware quality of the new iPad (screen, battery life, etc), and their respective app stores built up a good base of available apps, I probably would choose one of them over iOS due to above negatives. I realize some of the reasons Apple has been so successful is that they lock their products down fairly tight. But they also clearly are gaming the customer to drive additional purchases, expensive upgrades or future product replacements, etc.

In summary, I think the new iPad is an amazing product that I wouldn’t have imagined only a few years ago. For that, I’m willing to part with my hard earned dollars and enjoy it. But I’d also gladly swap it for an Android/Win 8 tablet in a couple years when those markets mature.

I’ve been using an Acer A400 for about a year, and to be honest, with the firmware and software updates it has become a very stable and fun tablet. It does absolutely everything I need. I love having the built in full size USB port, MicroSD card and true dolby stereo speakers. So you are probably asking, why did you buy an Ipad then.

I wanted to check out some new technology and I already know Apple makes some great products for graphic/audio and Education. Well I like the interface and ability to truly close out programs. But you know what? The Apple bogs down when truly multitasking. The android puts apps in a suspended state, so you can have dozens of apps open. Android “claims” it is ok, but the performance does start to hurt. The iPad simply gets hot and bogs down if you do the same things.

The iPad has a better and more solid feel, it is a snappier interface, but it is locked down. The Android is semi-locked down, but easy to change. You don’t have to have a face full of icons.

If I had to start over again, I wouldn’t buy either at this date and time. I honestly believe that there are some very good products based on Windows 8 and later versions of Android that will hit the market in Q3. This will be a game changer as far as functionality and usefulness of a tablet.

My advice. Put your credit card back in your wallet unless you have an immediate need for a tablet. Don’t fall for either an Android or iPad at this particular time. They are all over priced and the limitations are frustrating. Go take a walk and think about the fact that you can save the money for a much more advanced generation of tablet about to hit the market 3 to 6 months down the road.

i bought this from apple because amazon didn’t have it yet. I am middle- aged, love my nano, a kindle devotee from the first days, don’t have a smart phone, and am a pc user. at first i was awed by the touchscreen and the resolution quality. images are gorgeous. but now, it is really annoying. too often the screen doesn’t respond, and then reacts when you don’t even know you’re touching it. the word processing function has been limited and limiting from the start, for someone accustomed to microsoft.
if you think in buying the ipad you are getting a compact, fast, light computer, you are not. it IS fast. a computer it is not. no flash player is definitely a hinderance. what it is great for is apps, games, (although the screen has been frustrating there too), watching movies and tv shows, some browsing on the internet, and as a portable photo album, because images are truly fantastic on the ipad. i find the screen very fatiguing on my eyes, and have the brightness level down almost as far as it can go. i would never dream of reading a book on it. kindle has nothing to worry about, as far as the ipad as a reading device. the fact i can’t see the ipad screen outside, even in the shade, is also unfortunate, but i get it, that’s a backlit screen.
i am submitting this review not to bash apple, but to clarify a bit to people not familiar with macs and/or touchscreens what this device is about. would i buy this device again? not unless it sold for maybe $300. it is more a toy than a tool.

…and I’ve tried a bunch, both foil and rotary. None have shaved this close with this much comfort. There is absolutely no razor burn. Even when I tried shaving over portions of my neck several times, nothing but a close shave. Beyond that the razor has a good weight and fits comfortably in my hand. The “minutes left” indicator is very convenient. Cleaning is a snap, just pop open the heads and run them under hot water.

Perhaps the biggest selling point is the 45-day money back guarantee. You try it and don’t like it, you get your money back.

The down sides… Forget about using this for a “scruffy look”; there’s no height adjustment. It’s either a close shave or nothing. If you travel and expect to be gone longer than a single full charge (enough for 60 minutes of shaving) then you need to take along the base. The recharger does not plug directly into the razor. The price – $280 is a lot for a razor. And, you can expect to spend $60 every year (or two) for replacement heads.

Truth be told, this will not shave as close as a blade but it will get real close to that. Also, you get the convenience of being able to shave in less time, wherever you are (within reason), and whenever you want.

UPDATE – After using this razor for a while there’s a couple things I’ve noticed that get you an even closer shave. Firstly, like the instructions say, you want to clean the heads after every shave. It’s simply a matter of popping open the heads and rinsing them under the tap for a few seconds. Secondly, as I mentioned above, a light touch is the key. With your skin pulled tight you should barely feel the razor touching your face. It may seem like it’s not doing much but it really is. Also, after using it five days a week for over a month the battery meter still shows a 28% charge. (More importantly, the shaver is still running like the battery is full.)

BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews can take the place of first-hand experiences that are lacking in online shopping. I’ve always appreciated the help I’ve received from other reviewers and work hard to return the favor as best as I can. I hope you found this review helpful and if there was anything you thought was lacking or unclear leave a comment and I’ll do what I can to fix it.

Right when you think you’ve got the best razor out there, somebody has to go and come out with something 3x as expensive. The question then, is it 3x better? Let’s find out.

So I’ve been using the Braun 790cc razor for over about 19 months. I know this because I just replaced my blade at the 18 month mark about two months ago. This ensures it had a fair comparison with the Panasonic, as it was obviously brand new. This is also my first Panasonic. I’ve been using various high-end Braun razors for many years. Once they were worn out, I replaced them with whatever was the latest and greatest. I like my high-end razors. But when I saw this razor was retailing for $600, I was naturally skeptical that it was worth the price. Fortunately, this was a review unit, as you can see.

First, out of the box you have all of the usual expected items. Razor, blade, cleaning system, refill cartridge, etc. This is all basic, so I won’t go into too much detail. You just plug it in, charge, shave, clean. Repeat. I’ve been doing this for about a month to give it a fair comparison. They also suggest using a new razor for a month to allow your face to get used to it. However, compared to the Braun 790cc, which also had a fresh blade, there was really no adjustment.

That’s mostly because they use a similar cutting system. Except the Braun has a single larger cutter and the Panasonic uses 5 smaller ones. But not small enough. The head on the Panasonic is nearly twice as large as the Braun. Which is great for saving time on shaving most of your face, but it does make it more difficult to get into the tighter areas such as between the eye brows or under the nose. The head pivots in any direction that you’d like. Personally I’ve never found that to be as useful as it sounds. For everything else, the Panasonic wins, albeit by a slight margin. We’re talking about a few seconds less shave time in favor of the 5-blade cutting system of the Panasonic.

How about noise and comfort? First thing you’ll notice when you turn it on is that the Panasonic is much, much quieter than the 790cc. It also vibrates much less. Braun uses this “feature” as a selling point claiming it’s supposed to help shaving. I always found it slightly annoying, but it is something I’ve gotten used to over the years. The Panasonic is quiet enough that you can really hear it cutting each hair (and letting you know you missed some spots). It’s also slightly smoother and just a little nicer to use on a regular basis. Another win for the Panasonic.

Ergonomics. Braun wins. Between the unusual large head, slim body, and lack of a place to grasp it, the Panasonic is a little awkward to hold and switch positions. Sure, you do get used to it. But the Braun is much easier to hold in various position. I also keep finding that I’m pushing on the trimmer because it’s right behind the head, where you hold it. Win for the Braun.

Miscellanies features? The trimmer works comparably well. Neither are the easiest to maneuver around your face, but they get the job done. How about the cleaning system? Well, that’s easy. The Panasonic wins here. It’s quieter (thanks to a quieter razor) and it’s nice enough to dry your razor after cleaning it. You also don’t have that alcohol smell that you’re left with the Braun. Both Razors also have LCD’s with interesting information that’s nice to have. But certainly something you could live without. The Panasonics display looks nicer. So I suppose you could give them another win.

I whole-heartedly agree with other comments regarding poor battery life. Apple rates the I-4S with 200 hours in standby. I have had my phone for 20 days as of today. Ten days ago I informally tested the battery life over the weekend. With mild use, and all available services turned on, it took 72 hours to drop to 10%. Four days ago, after removing it from the charger, (100%), it went to 10% in four hours, the entire time in standby. Yesterday, it went from 100% to 50% in two hours of standby. Since this was the beginning of my workday, and I did not have a second charger available, I disabled everything. This prolonged the eventual death another 6 hours. During the entire 8 hours, I had 2 phone calls which both lasted less than 1 minute. Installed the patch last night. Used the phone today, again with very mild use. It may last 24 hours, but not likely. The tech that I talked with at Sprint last night, said that my symptoms were identical to all the complaints they have received so far. Phone works great for a couple of weeks, and then dies a dramatic death. It’s easy to tell when things are going wrong. The external surface becomes very hot to the touch, even in standby, and you can watch the battery percentage drop 1% every couple of minutes. This is a very obvious hardware issue. If I weren’t beyond the 14-day return policy that Sprint conveniently implemented just before the Iphone launch, I would have returned it immediately. Went to the Apple store tonight, as the Sprint tech said that they would need to run diagnostics on the phone, and there were over 100 people waiting in line with the same problem. There were staff members at the entrance taking names for a waiting list, and there were people waiting outside just to get their name on the “waiting list.” My advice to other users… if you can return it, do so immediately!! If you don’t currently have one and you really want one. Wait six months for the hardware fix that Apple will surely, and silently make without admitting the severity of this problem. Realistically, I hear “class-action suit” in the background.

well, long ago i was a iPhone 3g user, then, because many friends insisted and the price was appealing, specially in Brazil, i bought a galaxy S and was thrilled for abut 1 month, than i could t stop missing my old iPhone 3g(yes, thats right i would trade a galaxy S for an iPhone 3G in a second).

iphone 4s = awesome. i got more use of it on my first weekend with it than i did in 6 months of galaxy S. very fast. intuitive as always and IOS 5 is even better on a dual core. SIRI is unbelievable (and i mean it! My primary language is portuguese and she understand me perfectly, even when i force my accent).

IOS x Android = never going back to android. IOS is far more intuitive and easy to operate. i couldn’t get the wireless to work it self out whenever I were close to a hotspot on the android, for IOS its automatic. mail viewing and message thread is a lot easier on iOS and the app store carries a much larger variety of items than the market does. iOS (at least so far, in my 3-4 years of experience with it) is safer, since i was recommended to get at least one antivirus for the galaxy s.

though i think the battery lasts a little less than it should, i can still get about 2 days of use, unless i talk to SIRI a lot, then it would last for one day no problem.
the screen could be a little bigger, but i haven’t resent going from a 4″to a 3.5″…

cons: lens break very easily, so a case or bumper is a need. the antenna seems to have some issues still, but nothing that a good old bumper wouldn’t solve.

well. this is my review. i strongly recommend this phone
